Cloth VS Disposable Nappies

Cloth Vs Disposable Nappies- Which one do you use?

Morally we should use cloth right? Save the planet and all that...
But they don't make it easy do they?
Size 1 (Newborn)
Size 2
Size 3
Did you know there's all-in-one wraps? Or 'birth to potty' nappies whereby you can adjust either poppers or velcro as baby grows.

Then there's the brands...

BAMBINEX                                                                                                  GNAPPIES

Don't even know what this one is but looks pretty!
We need a cloth nappy dictionary just to make sense of the brands!

So, you pick the brands you like and the size you need.... You then have to tackle with inserts and costs!

£30 a cloth nappy to save the planet right? If you ignore the fact like babies go through on average 6 nappies a day. BUT that's what make the inserts so good!
You have cloth inserts that get washed with the nappies OR you have disposable inserts that you just pop in the bin. Usually Bio-gradable.

Here's some cloth inserts! Not too bad eh?!

These are the disposable inserts they can come as huge rolls... Hugely cost effective!

The point is.... you're not putting 6+ disposable nappies in the waste every day which DOES save the planet right?

Where does the poo go?!

The logic is that the poo goes onto the inserts and you can just throw the inserts in the bin. Or wash them through before you put them in the washing machine. We all know poo doesn't work that way! It's likely to spill onto the nappies so you'll have to wash them all through before they get properly washed.
Depends hugely on whether you have the stomach to do that?

Not all cloth nappies do great with tumble driers so you're looking at hanging them up to dry. Great for the planet but alot more organisation, it depends hugely on your lifestyle

You're not the 'perfect' parent because you use cloth, but you're not the 'perfect' parent because you don't.

If you manage to clean up a poo explosion from your toddler mere seconds before important people are coming to view your house then who cares if it's cloth you use or disposables? You cleaned up a toddler running around trying to cover poo everywhere!

THAT IS AN ACHIEVEMENT

So don't be so hard on yourself because of the choices YOU made, but also don't judge others for the choices THEY made.

I run Bed and Baby in the UK. We actually sell both disposable and cloths. There are just as many brands for disposable as there are cloth believe it or not!

We all know Pampers and Huggies... And the usual supermarket brands
Beaming baby... Never even heard of them
Kit & Kin.... Sounds like cat food

Moooooltex
Pingo... Pretty original name I guess

And the cost isn't much difference in price...

One cloth nappy= £30 usage: lifetime

One disposable nappy= 18p usage- one time only

So whatever you decide, pick whats right for you and your family.

HAPPY NAPPY SHOPPING!
